38-year-old Sentenced To Death By Hanging For Killing Stepson – Mrs Ternenge Tersoo, a 38-year-old housewife, who strangled her stepson to death, was sentenced to death by hanging.
The judge of a Makurdi Higher Court, Justice Jennifer Ijohor who delivered the judgement on Thursday, stated the proof ahead of the court showed that the prosecution had proved the case beyond affordable doubt which warranted conviction of the accused.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the husband of the convict, Mr. Tersoo had in 2012 reported to the police that his wife snatched the infant from his nanny and strangled him to death.
It was furthered gathered that Mrs. Tersoo, who is the initial wife of the husband and has no child, had vowed to do the condemnable when the husband married a second wife. The police prosecution told the court that two witnesses like the investigation officer, confirmed the incident.
It tendered a health-related report of the autopsy carried out on the deceased child at the Common hospital Vandeikya which confirmed the death. But when the case came up, the woman emphatically denied the allegation, but failed to call any witness to help her claim.Even so, the judge, Mrs. Ijohor advised barren ladies to appear up to God rather of engaging in nefarious acts. She directed that the woman be taken to the federal prisons Makurdi, where she is to await death by hanging.
