Abducted Wife Of UNIOSUN ASUU Chair Rescued

Abducted Wife Of UNIOSUN ASUU Chair Rescued –  Mrs. Funmilayo Abiona, wife of the chairman of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Osun State University (UNIOSUN) chapter, who was abducted last Friday, was released.

Mrs. Abiona who was kidnapped on her way home after closing at her shop located at the junction leading to UNIOSUN, Osogbo campus at Oke-Baale area around 6pm on Friday, was recovered at a location along Ilesa/Akure road at about 4:00pm yesterday.

The five kidnap gang had whisked away Mrs Abiona in their red car and headed towards an unknown destination only to demand for the ransom the following day.

Though it was not clear whether the family paid the N5 million ransom allegedly placed on her by the kidnappers, sources revealed that two suspects were arrested in connection with the kidnap case.

Family source who confirmed the release of Mrs Abiona, expressed appreciation to well wishers who shared with the family, the grief of the abduction of his wife.

Efforts made to get the state police command to confirm and give further information proved abortive as the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Folashade Odoro could not be reached.
