Anambra gov urged to tackle unemployment, insecurity

Popular Igbo leader, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, has called on the Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, to continue from where his predecessor, Peter Obi stopped in the areas of job creation and security.

Ezeonwuka, who hailed the people of the state for voting the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the last election, said the party had not disappointed the people going by Obi’s track record of democracy dividends while in office.

Ezeonwuka, who is also a member of APGA Board of Trustees said he could not hide his excitement with the massive turnout at the governor’s inauguration, saying this was a clear sign that all was well with the state.

“Anambrarians from all parts of Nigeria and in the Diaspora came home to identify with this new government. This shows that the people have come together under one umbrella, and in my observation, I believe the opposition is dead in Anambra. As Ogirisi Igbo, let me advise those parading themselves as opposition to accept the olive branch extended to them by the Obiano-led government and join the winning team,” he said.

He, however, urged the governor to reciprocate the support with quality service delivery cutting across youth empowerment, road construction and maintenance and sports. He said he should not forget his promise on consolidating the projects initiated by his predecessor in education, health and others.

He also urged the governor to build a mechanic village where youths could be trained in motor mechanic and also build skill acquisition centres in all the local government areas so that they could also train as tailors, caterers, masons, carpenters and hair dressers, among others.
