The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, on Saturday, February 2, joined Nigerians in expressing happiness that the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, survived a helicopter crash on his way to Kogi state. Atiku, who posted his reaction on his social media handle, said: “Dear vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, I just received news of the crash of your helicopter in Kabba, Kogi state.

I am happy to note, however, that all is well with you and your delegation.” In a very short reaction, the president of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, expressed gratitude to God that the vice president survived the incident.

“I join all Nigerians in thanking Almighty God for sparing the life of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who survived a helicopter crash over Kabba, Kogi state today,” he said.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, who reacted to the incident, thanked God for averting any fatality in the crash.

“I join His Excellency, Prof Osinbajo in thanking the Almighty God for saving him and his team from any fatality in the unfortunate incident in Kogi state.

“I urge relevant authorities to conduct due diligence checks on all government owned aircraft to prevent a re-occurrence,” he said.

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state said only God deserves the praise for sparing the life of the vice president.

The media aide to the governor, Terver Akase, quoted Ortom as saying he joins other Nigerians in “thanking God for sparing the life of VP, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, in the crash-landing of his chopper today in Kabba, Kogi state.

He says God deserves praise for the safety of the VP’s and those of others.” On his part, Ben Murray-Bruce, the senator representing Bayelsa East at the National Assembly, said he was excited that the vice president was safe.
Murray-Bruce, a member of the PDP, said he wished Osinbajo well and wants him to remain alive for the service of the nation. ‪He said he is “so glad Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is safe.

I wish him well and want him to stay alive so we can all work together as patriots to get this nation on the road to greatness.

“We may be in different parties and support different candidates, but he is first and foremost a human being.”
