The leadership of Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) yesterday called on the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole to prevail on the federal government to stem the incessant killings across the country.
A congratulatory letter signed by the State Chairman and Secretary of the Council, Roland Osakue and Alemma-Ozioruva Aliu, urged Oshiomhole to use his new position to impress it on government at all levels on the need to stop the incessant, avoidable killings across the country.
In a related development, an aspirant into the National Assembly, Kenneth Obende in a statement yesterday urged Oshiomhole to ensure that aggrieved party members were brought back to the party.
In related news, the Edo State government has said that it has not ceded land in any part of the state to anyone for ranching project. Governor Obaseki made the clarification in a statement issued yesterday in Benin City.
The governor reiterated that under his watch, “the Edo State Government will remain an enabler of businesses through policies, incentives and laws and will continue to play this role to attract private investments that will create jobs for our teeming population.”
He however noted that “private individuals and groups that have submitted proposals to get involved in animal husbandry, will receive the support of the federal government through the Edo State government for the success of their businesses.”
