Bauchi — Governor Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State has called for peaceful coexistence among people of his state. He said yesterday in a good will message to mark the Christmas that mutual understanding and peaceful coexis-tence has become very necessary as Nigeria is a multi-religious society.
He said: “We should learn to live with one another harmoniously irrespective of our political, cultural and religious differences. We should also imbibe the spirit of love and forgiveness because Jesus Christ had throughout his lifetime preached peace, honesty, love for one another and the fear of God. It is these virtues that people irrespective of their religious beliefs are enjoined to imbibe and put into practice”.
“The Christmas period should be used to strengthen existing friendships as well as establish new ones. I hereby call on Christians in particular to exchange visits among themselves and adherents of other faiths”, he added. Yuguda assured of security of lives and property, saying the primary objective of a responsible government is to ensure security of lives and property of its people.
“We would therefore do everything possible to ensure that we continue to enjoy a peaceful Bauchi State where no one is molested or harassed.”
