The Former Speaker of the Abia state House of Assembly, and a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress ,APC, Rt. Hon. Martins Azubuike, has condemned the alleged invasion of the Abia state Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC, by suspected thugs.
Suspected thugs believed to be working with a factional leadership of APC in Abia state had on Friday invaded the state APC secretariats located at Azikiwe road, Umuahia and carted away with the party’s valuables.
Speaking to newsmen in Umuahia while reacting on the incident, Azubuike said the action of the suspected thugs was condemnable, expressing sadness that the incident happened when party leaders were strategizing on how to win 2019 election in the state.
He said, “It is an unfortunate situation happening in our state capital at a time such as this. It is condemnable. Coming from no less person than Chief Ikechi Emenike who by all standards should be a leader in this country and in this state”.
“At a time when the party is trying to put its act together as we are approaching 2019 election. And looking at our state, Abia and all the challenging issues, wherein the populaces are looking for a platform to rescue the state from bad governance. I’m sad about the invasion of the Abia APC secretariat and I condemn it in all ramifications”.
Azubuike who is currently the member representing Isiala Ngwa north constituency in the Abia House of Assembly, urged APC members in the state to remain focus and not to derail over the invasion of the party office by the hoodlums.
“I’m advising all our party members should keep hope alive and stay focused, because nothing good comes easy”.
“And for me, this is one of the distractions being encountered. But our party people should not allow this incident derail them and let us keep our eyes on our target. And that target is Abia government house in 2019”.
