Imo State Film Academy Building Collapsed – The Imo State film academy has collapsed just days after its commission.
Headed by actress Nkiru Sylvanus, the academy’s building reportedly collapsed because of the use of substandard materials in its construction.
The state’s commissioner of information, Engineer Chidi Ibe however denounced the rumors, claiming the collapse was a result of an accident.
“There was nothing like collapsed building. It was a trailer carrying a heavy generator and while trying to drop the equipment behind the Film Academy, one of the trailer’s tyres pulled and the trailer fell on the building. The impact of the trailer’s fall led to the collapse of the building.”
The building had been commissioned by governor Rochas Okorocha, who donated N100 million to the academy.
