Nigerian Military helicopter crashlands, 2 injured – Five people on board on Monday when a military helicopter crashlanded in Riverside area of Damare of Girei Local Government Area, a few few miles from Yola, around 9.30 a.m.
The helicopter was said to have only white people, four men and one woman on board, but only two sustained various degrees of injuries.
Effort to reach authorities concerned failed as the entire area was surrounded by military men, stopping anybody to go close to the scene.
One of the military men told journalists that it was an order from above not to say anything or allow anybody to go close to the area.
Mallam Chubado, a resident of the area, who witnessed all that happened, told journalists that: “We are the first people to visit the area while a white man kept calling for a help to rescue one of their colleagues, who got trapped in the plane.
“We rushed to the area and struggled to no avail to get a man with a broken leg and the other with face injury rescued,” Chubado said.
The report gathered that the helicopter was stocked with all manners of ammunition and was hovering towards Mubi on a rescue mission, but nobody can categorically say what caused the crash and why white men were moving toward the crisis area of Adamawa north and the entire North-East without a Nigerian guide in the helicopter.
The scene had been guarded by military men and evacuation of luggages of the crashed plane, believed to be ammunition which were to be conveyed to unknown destination.
