OBJ BLASTS BUHARI: Money Meant For Road Construction Was Diverted To Buy Mosquito Nets, While He PTF Chairman. – Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday threw more light why he sacked Muhammadu Buhari and the PTF scheme.
Obasanjo blasted the much-advertised integrity of APC presidential candidate, Gen Muhammadu, revealing that Buhari declared that money meant for road constructions were diverted and used to purchase Mosquito nets, during his tenure as ‘PTF’ Chairman
Obasanjo made this shocking revelation when Buhari visited him in Abeokuta, Ogun State yesterday, pointing to the report that indicted Buhari over financial misappropriations.
Obasanjo told Buhari face to face, that the agency under him deviated from its core mandate of building roads to buying mosquito nets and other questionable items.
According to Obasanjo, when his administration investigated the account of the agency under Buhari, it was discovered that there were inconsistencies in the prices of commodities bought by it.
The former president hinted that when Buhari was confronted with the report of the investigation, his response was that he tried his best to ensure that he managed the affairs of the agency well but that they handled billions of naira.
Recall, Buhari was appointed chairman of the PTF by the late head of state, Gen. Sani Abacha, which served as an interventionist agency to use the excess funds from fuel price hike to develop infrastructures in some critical sectors, but according to the report of the Investigation, Buhari misappropriated Billions of Naira, and greater of PTF funds were unaccounted for.
