President Goodluck Jonathan, on Wednesday decorated the newly appointed service chiefs with their new ranks.
Those who were decorated include, Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh; Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Kenneth Minimah; Chief of. Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin; and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu.
Speaking during the event, President Jonathan called on the new service chiefs to win the war on terrorism, adding that they should not fail Nigerians.
He also advised them not to sleep until those living in areas where terrorism is rampant can sleep peacefully.
“We will be having very fine talks from time to time, but definitely Nigerians will tell you what they expect from us, we must not fail this country and I believe this team will work together to be assisted by other intelligence services because the war against terror must be won in this country,” he said.
In his vote of thanks, Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh promised to work hard ahead of 2015 elections to ensure the restoration of normalcy while also urging Nigerians to make sacrifices so that more resources could be channeled to the anti-terrorism war.
