The National Orientation Agency on Friday condemned the killing of policemen and other security operatives in Nasarawa State, describing the incident as gory.

The Director-General of the agency, Mr. Mike Omeri, said this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja.

Scores of security operatives were ambushed and killed by a militia group known as Ombatse at Alakio village, located about 10 kilometres away from Lafia on Tuesday.

Reacting to the situation, Omeri condemned the killing of the security personnel.

He said, “I am deeply saddened by the incident. This is a sad moment not only for the people of Nasarawa State, but for Nigeria as a whole.

“We join you to mourn those who lost their lives; I wish the families the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”

He warned Nigerians against further attacks on security operatives on legitimate duties under any guise.
