The Governor of Cross River state, Liyel Imoke is alive. According the press release by the Commissioner for Information, Chief Akin Ricketts in Calabar, “there is no iota of truth in the rumour that Gov. Liyel Imoke is dead.”
He said the press about the governor’s letter to the House of Assembly last week and his decision to hand over to his deputy, Efiok Cobham, to enable him proceed on a two-month accumulated leave.
Mr Ricketts said that “He is not dead, he is now recuperating. There are strong indications that he will soon return to the country.”.
Governor Imoke is currently receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness overseas. He is due back to office in February, 2013.
