Let Us Pray for CHRISTIANS IN NIGERIA – Numbers of violence against Christians throughout Nigeria are incredibly high, with countless churches being damaged and many Christians being killed.
Local government and social groups leave hardly any space for Christians to live their own lives; many Christian villages are denied basic facilities such as wells and schools. The worst however are Islamic extremists from Boko Haram. Over 270 Nigerian schoolgirls were kidnapped by them earlier this year, most likely raped and sold into sexual slavery. Last week, extremists from Boko Haram killed 11 people and kidnapped another 20 women while they attacked predominantly Christian Lassa in northeastern Nigeria. Let us pray for our brothers and sisters suffering under this sever persecution.
Dear Loving Lord,
We would like to pray for our brothers and sisters suffering in Nigeria. They have been under severe attacks of Islamic extremists who don’t value one’s life and rights. Father, be with your people there and give them hope so they can keep their faith in you. Even though everything seems so dark and hopeless, Father, give them strength to overcome and endure. We pray for the families of those who were killed, please comfort them. We also pray for all girls kidnapped and abducted. Let them endure and have hope. Most of all we pray for the government and leaders in Nigeria to deal better with this unspeakable suffering that Christians are facing there. Let them work better to protect Christians.
